My Trip to the Farm
I went on a tour of an organic beef farm, which is right near the campground. I was reminded of the book, “The Day Jimmy’s Boa Ate the Wash”. Have you read this book? Many school groups come to this farm and they get to wander around.
Here are some boys from one school group…..they are having fun! Farm visitors also get to milk and help feed the cows.
The farm raises both sheep and cows. Here are some photos.
The Bull
These sheep have patches of different color wool.
Along a Canal and In the Wetlands
I often walk along this canal. I see many birds here and a lovely old building.
I saw a spoonbill feeding one day but I couldn’t get close enough to get a picture so here is one I found on the Internet. They made a back and forth sideways motion when they eat which is neat to watch.
These birds are coots and I have seen them everywhere. I have been able to watch the babies grow. They were just born when I first came to the Netherlands and now they are losing their baby looks and becoming more like their parents.
I am very fascinated by swans, so I have taken a lot of photos of them. Swans can be feisty so I try not to get too close. I don’t want to be chased! Harlan discovered this swan on a nest near his office. It sits there all day and stretches its neck out to feed.
